About the Instructors:
 

David Griffin

 

Dave Griffin is a former professional baseball player with 10 years experience.  Dave has played for the Braves, Yankees, Tigers, and has been instructed by such coaches as Bobby Cox, Bucky Dent, Sparky Anderson, Cito Gaston, and Jim Beachumb.  Dave has been instructing in Northwest, Indiana for 20 years and his hardline fundamental concept has gone on to produce 26 players that have been drafted professionally, and 875 boys and girls with scholarships at the college level.  Dave started the Elite Indiana Playmakers which has been going for 9 years, and continues to turn out the finest players.  
  
 
 
 
 
Tom Hansen
 
Tom has been an instructor for 17 years.  He graduated from Ball State University and was Varsity Baseball Coach at Lake Central High School.  Tom specializes in hitting, and pitching, and has experience as a coach with the White Sox Training Center.    
 
Anthony Hofer, Instructor          
 
Anthony has been an instructor at Dave Griffins for 8 years.  Anthony was the head coach for the Hammond Seminole Baseball Club last summer.  Anthony's college experience includeds a two year stint at Prarie State Junior College and at the University of St. Francis.  Anthony helped his team capture the NJCAA Region IV Championship.  
 
 
Jim Nohos
 
Jim Nohos has been our pitching instructor for 14 years.  Jim is highly respected and recognized as the best pitching instructor in Northwest  Indiana.  Currently Jim is the pitching coach at Andrean High School, in addition to coaching the Playmakers elite travel baseball team.

Ryan Basham

Ryan was a member of the first Playmaker team and in Dave Griffins opinion the finest hitter Northwest Indiana has seen. Ryan was a draft choice of the Toronto Bluejays after a stellar career at Michigan State.  Ryan is in his fourth year teaching at the school, specializing in hitting.
  
John Lewandowski
 
John played in the Cleveland Indians organization for 7 years and brings a wealth of knowledge in hitting, and catching. John is available on Saturdays.
  
Mike Klaich
 
Mike Klaich is a part-time instructor for 11 years and specializes in hitting and fielding.  Mike has coached at Bishop Noll High School, along with Calumet College.  Mike is currently at IU Northwest, where he is the batting coach and recruiting coordinator.   
 
Eric Shultz
 
Eric Shultz has been a part-time instructor for 8 years.  He specializes in hitting and pitching.  Eric has been an assistant coach at Griffith High School and has also coached for the Hammond Seminoles.


Mike Couwenhoven
 
Mike joins the staff as a hitting, and fielding instructor. Mike was a former Playmaker as well as a Northern Illinois player.Mike will be looked upon to give valuable tips to up and comers.
 
Andy Loomis
 
Andy currently plays with the Florida Marlins and is a former Purdue Star. Andy is available for pitching lessons in the winter months.  Please call for more information.

Joel Schmal
 
Joel is a former All-American at South Suburban College and pitched at Florida Atlantic.  He is currently playing in the Professional Independent League.  Joel is in his third year and will specialize in pitching.

 
                                               Softball Instructors
 
Michelle Castillo
 
Michelle Castillo is currently in her 15th year of pitching instruction.  She has coached at Griffith High School and now currently coaches at Highland High School.  Michelle combines her strong knowledge of pitching with a great relationships with her girls.
 
Laura Smith-Wold
 
Laura Wold is currently in her 3rd year as a softball pitching instructor.  She is a former Lake Central High School Standout and played college softball for Wisconsin Green Bay.  Laura is a two-time MVP as a pitcher

Alyssa Crowley

New to our staff, Alyssa was a pitcher at South Suburban College and prepped at Iliana Christian.  Alyssa has played softball for more than 10 years and has been instructed by Nichole Terpstra and Bob Madrigal.  She has played softball for South Holland, Lyon Township Redbirds, and Chicago Attitude.
